During this 3-month unpaid AML/KYC Compliance Internship, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gain hands-on experience with real cases, and develop practical skills that will give you a strong start to your career in compliance and financial crime prevention.
About the Role:
- KYC & Screening Support: Conduct customer screening using secondary screening tools, review potential matches, and escalate findings to Compliance Analysts where appropriate.
- Adverse Media Research: Perform adverse media and open-source searches to identify potential reputational, regulatory, or financial crime risks associated with customers and beneficial owners.
- Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Support: Assist the KYC/AML team in collecting, reviewing, and organizing customer due diligence documentation, ensuring records are complete and properly maintained.
- Business Activity Classification: Support the onboarding process by reviewing customer information and assisting in assigning the appropriate business activity within the CRM system in accordance with internal taxonomy and compliance requirements.
- Data Accuracy & Reconciliation: Reconcile customer information between the CRM system and the master Excel tracker, ensuring all onboarding and ongoing due diligence (OEDD) updates are accurately recorded, data is complete and consistent, and any discrepancies are identified and resolved.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the KYC Team Lead and Compliance Analysts to ensure onboarding and OEDD cases are processed accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Administrative Support: Assist the First Line of Defence (1LoD) with ad hoc compliance and administrative tasks, helping resolve data and documentation queries to support efficient day-to-day onboarding operations.
- Regulatory & Compliance Projects: Provide support with ongoing AML/KYC remediation initiatives, periodic reviews, audit preparation, and other compliance-related projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Criminology, International Relations, or a related field.
- A genuine interest in AML/CFT, KYC, customer due diligence, sanctions compliance, and financial crime prevention.
- Strong analytical and investigative mindset, with the ability to assess information from multiple sources and identify potential risks.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high level of accuracy when reviewing customer information and compliance documentation.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good research skills, including the ability to conduct adverse media and open-source searches and analyse findings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear and concise compliance notes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with CRM systems is an advantage.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and discretion, as you will be handling confidential customer information and sensitive financial data.
